Palm, in conjunction with Vodafone, have announced the Treo 500v smart phone. This is a 3G device running Windows Mobile 6, and comes complete with a 2.0 mega pixel camera, 256MB of Flash memory and a microSD memory card slot for media storage.

Aside from 3G connectivity the Treo 500v also supports Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR for speedy data transfer, although there has been no mention of Wi-Fi yet. The much criticised proprietary connector we saw on the Treo 750v has now been replaced with a more universal miniUSB port. There is also a standard headset jack as features on the new BlackBerry range.

Looking at the design the 500v could not seem further away from a standard Palm Treo, and this bold move will hit the shelves in an iPod style white and black.
