The stylish new handset exclusive to Vodafone customers will be available from May 1st this Spring. The Google phone will be officially known as the HTC Magic Pioneer and is the result of a successful relationship between Vodafone and HTC, and Vodafone’s joining, late last year, of the Open Handset Alliance.

Samsung Introduces “Face Tagging”

Samsung have incorporated an interesting new feature in to a new handset launching later this year. The new model, called the Haptic, allows you to call or message a contact by clicking on an area within a photo which shows their face (even if there’s more than one person in the image). continue

O2 parent Telefónica and Vodafone, two of the world’s largest telecommunications operators, this week announced a wide-ranging strategic programme to share mobile network assets across Germany, Spain, Ireland and the UK with talks still going on to finalise a similar deal in the Czech Republic.
Telefónica and Vodafone will use the agreements to aid the roll out of their respective networks, enhancing service quality for customers in the longer term. The agreements will also reduce the environmental impact of both companies’ roll out activities, due to the consolidation of existing sites and joint build of new sites. continue

BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS) Updated To 2.6 By RIM

There are some nice changes in here such as one-way IMAP Gmail synchronisation and the ability to change your email signature on the go via the BIS WAP site, but nothing earth shattering, just some nice subtle changes. if you want to be able to make use of IMAP Gmail, you have to delete your account and re-add it from within your BIS account.

Mozilla Releases ‘Fennec’ Mobile Browser Beta

Eavesway Travel has added the Icomera Moovbox M200 mobile gateway to luxury vehicles it uses to transport Premier League football players from clubs such as Manchester United and Wigan Athletic .

BBC Launches New Beta Mobile Website

The BBC has launched a new version of its mobile website. The all new site (which can be viewed at http://www.bbc.co.uk/mobile/betahome) provides the viewer with the ability to customise the homepage and view content in the order in which they’d like to see it. This is a very novel idea, especially on a mobile device where screen real estate is always something of a premium. continue
