If you are concerned about your children making in-app purchases, then here is how to stop them.

  1. Locate the Play store icon on your home screen and open it.
  2. Tap on the Menu icon, then select Settings
  3. Scroll down to User Controls and select Set PIN or Password (to restrict purchases), then type in a four digit code. This code will now be needed to make changes to these User Controls.
  4. Within the User Controls make sure that there is a tick on the right hand side of the Set PIN or Password
  5. Push the Home button and the PIN is now set. You will now need the four digit PIN to purchase Apps within the Play Store.

Last night at 11pm, Samsung unveiled their latest edition to the Galaxy range, the Galaxy S4.

The Galaxy S4 includes a rear facing 13MP resolution camera and a front facing 2MP resolution camera as well as a 4G, NFC, 2GB RAM and a 1.9 GHz quad core processor. It also features the latest Gorilla Glass 3 as well as the traditional HD Super AMOLED display that measures 5 inches and will run Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean) upon an expected release in April. Smartphones will make up more than half of all mobile phones shipped worldwide by the end of Quarter 1 this year.

Data from the 4th quarter of 2012 shows that smartphones shipments hit a record high of 44% of the overall mobile phone market of 472 million. With smartphone numbers growing by almost 40% year on year every quarter, while shipments of feature phones dropped by around 20% in the same period, this would put smartphones ahead of feature phones shipments (at 286 million vs. 211 million) during the first quarter of 2013.

Samsung have annouced that it has now shipped over 30 million of its flagship handset, the Galaxy S III in a period of only 5 months. In comparison, the previous model, the Galaxy S II took 14 months to hit the same benchmark. Continue reading
