Unveiled at last week’s Apple Event, iOS9 has been released for iPhone and iPad.

Amongst the new apps and improvements are:


  • A new app that brings articles and stories from various sources into one app. Stories are picked based what users are interested in and learns from how it is used in order to improve the individual selection


  • This app has been improved to allow To Do lists to be created as well as add photos, maps and web links. The Share button in other apps, such as Safari and Maps can be used to create new notes as well as update existing ones. Users can also add hand drawn sketches directly into Notes
  • Using the iCloud, Notes can be synchronised across all devices

As reported here last week, Apple had its Keynote address on Monday night, as part of the annual Developer Conference, WWDC. Please find below details of the main highlights of the address.

Software upgrade for iPhones and iPads: iOS9

Siri will have a new feature, Proactive that will learn user’s habits and tailor the handset’s reactions. For example, if a user plugs in their headphones at a particular time of day and listens to a particular type of music, Proactive will open up the music app and suggest that music. It will also give suggestions as to who unknown callers may be, when an incoming call comes in, by checking emails for numbers that are not in the address book. Continue reading


Apple has just released a new update for iOS8. The update includes improved performance, bug fixes and a new, redesigned Emoji keyboard. Please see below for a more detailed breakdown of features and fixes in this iOS update.

Enterprise Fixes

  • The time zone of the Calendar events created in IBM Notes have been fixed
  • iOS 8.3 fixes a problem that causes web clip icons to become generic after restarting
  • An issue that causes the unreliability of saved passwords for web proxies has been fixed
  • Apple iOS 8.3 adds the ability to edit Exchange out-of-office messages separately for external replies

BB Classic

BlackBerry OS 10.3.1 update is expected to be released on February 19 for all of the company’s current smartphone line-up. Currently, the BlackBerry Classic is the only one to run BlackBerry OS 10.3.1.

The latest BlackBerry OS version is expected to include an updated virtual assistant that will bring BlackBerry closer to the likes of Siri, Google Now and Microsoft Cortana. The new OS is also expected to include notification profiles, enhanced calendar reminder dialogs, task recurrence and the ability to hide pictures and videos. Additional features are expected to include a battery saving mode and the option to restrict apps to run while minimised.



There are a number of new features and hidden functions in iOS 8, and here are a few of them:

  • Find my iPhone

This new feature allows your iOS 8 device/s to send a last known location to Apple when the battery reaches a critical level. The last location will be kept in your iCloud for 24 hrs. This will assist you in locating your iPhone/iPad even if the battery has died.

How to enable this feature: Setting, iCloud, Find My iPhone/iPad and enable Send Last Location

  • Siri with music in mind

Shazam is now integrated into iOS 8 via Siri. Say “What song is playing Siri” and Siri will use Shazam to help you identify the music.

At the WWDC (Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference) on Monday, Tim Cook announced the new mobile operation system, iOS 6 for Apple’s mobile devices. In San Fransicso yesterday, Apple gave a presentation of its latest products. Amongst the announcements, the one product that people were waiting for was the follow up to the iPad 2.

Amongst the speculation preceeding the event, the name was one of the things discussed about, many people favouring either the iPad 3 or the iPad HD. What people hadn’t counted on was Apple’s announcement that it will simply be called the New iPad. This was the first surprise of the day.
